I am still in the process of arranging a few Traditional Italian and Sicilian Folk Songs. In it I would like to portray the depth of emotion our rich culture affords us. Maybe someone will remember his or her childhood experiences. Running around the house, getting in trouble, being hugged and kissed so much you had to pull away. This is music I grew up with; aunts and uncles and parents and grandparents eating and singing and dancing and playing music. This was holiday. This was birthdays. This was playing cards on Saturday nights. This was all live music; I was hooked on it from the start. There was talent in every corner of the room. The music reflected our love of family and the joy of being alive. We live in a different, less innocent world today. Some cultural flavor has been lost. I have a hard time relearning this stuff. It reminds me of wonderful times. I will soon start to record our old folk songs and see what comes out. I will post the list and songs as I get them done.
